JOB DESCRIPTION

General: The Board of Directors consists of a maximum of 24 members of the Northern Junior Athletic Association. There is no maximum term limit however Board Members are encouraged to remain in term for a minimum of two years. Any vacancy is filled by vote of the majority of the directors, with the term expiring at the next annual meeting.

Elections: Elections are by plurality vote, one vote per board member, except when there is only one nominee per vacancy. There are no nominations from the floor if there is at least one nominee per position.

Officers: The Board elects annually, within 7 days following the annual meeting, the following officers to serve one-year terms expiring at the next annual meeting: President, Vice-president, Secretary, and Treasurer.

Duties per Bylaws:

  1. Direct the affairs of Northern Junior Athletic Association in accordance, Bylaws, NJAA Rules and Regulations, and sound business practices.
  2. Establishing programs to achieve the purposes of Northern Junior Athletic Association of - promoting recreational sporting activities among our participants, and creating a safe and fun environment for them.
  3. Performing such additional acts and exercising such additional powers as may be required or authorized by applicable Bylaws and regulations.

 

Additional Duties:

  1. Establish the Vision and Strategic Values for Northern Junior Athletic Association.
  2. Establish general guidelines for the President to follow in accomplishing his/her duties.
  3. Approves Strategic Plan, Annual Plan, and monthly board meeting minutes.
  4. Monitors organizational progress toward accomplishment of the Board’s Vision.
  5. Serve on Board Committees as appointed.

 

Meetings: A regular meeting of the Board is conducted monthly. One third of the directors constitute a quorum. Any member of the Board who fails to attend regular meetings for 3 consecutive months, or any 4 months in the calendar year, may have their position declared vacant by the Board.
